On January 1, 1804, Haiti became the second republic in the Americas, the world’s first black republic, and the first and only successful slave revolution in human history after defeating three major empires- the Spanish, the British, and ultimately, the French military.
Our name, 1804REPUBLIC®, brings to light this great republic and the year it was established.
Our logo is a silhouette of the Neg Mawoon monument located right across from the Presidential Palace in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. This symbol of freedom was inspired by historical hero, François Mackandal, a leader of the Maroons in the early years of the revolution. The silhouette is surrounded by a triangle, which symbolizes the strength of the three oppressive empires. But notice the top angle of the triangle… it is broken! The people overcame the obstacles and accomplished the unthinkable, breaking the cycle of tyranny and slavery that had lasted over 300 years.
Our mission is to empower, educate and inform.
